The Government has introduced a new system of movement based on National Identity Card (NIC) numbers in areas where curfew is lifted.
Starting from next week, members of the public will only be allowed to venture outside for essential matters based on the final digit of their NICs, the President's Office stated.
Accordingly, citizens who possess NICs ending with the digits 1 or 2 will be allowed to go out on Mondays.
People with NIC numbers ending with 3 and 4 are allowed out on Tuesdays while those with NIC numbers ending with 5 and 6 can go out on Wednesdays.
On Thursdays, those with NIC numbers ending with 7 and 8 can go out while Friday will be reserved for people whose NICs end with 9 or 0.
The Government adds that people should only leave their homes in order to purchase essentials such as food and medicines. They should only travel to shops that are nearest to their homes and which can be reached on foot, the statement added.
