Nine local fishermen held for illegal fishing
Naval personnel attached in Silawathurai in the Northwestern Naval Command arrested nine local fishermen who engaged in illegal fishing activities using unlawful fishing gear in the sea area of Silawathurai yesterday, Navy said.
During the arrest; 2 dinghies and 2 fishing nets were taken into naval custody. The apprehended persons and belongings were handed over to the Inspector of Fisheries, Mannar for further investigations.

SLAF Bell 212 crashes into Maduru Oya
A Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter belonging to the No. 72 squadron has crashed into the Madhuru Oya reservoir this morning, Air FOrce Media Spokesman Eranda Geeganage said.
