Parliament approves three new non-MP nominees to Constitutional Council
Parliament today approved the nomination of non-Members of Parliament Dr. Jayantha Dhanapala, Mr. Ahamed Javid Yusuf and Mr. Naganathan Selvakkumaran to the Constitutional Council in terms of paragraph (5) of Article 41A of the Constitution, on the nomination of both the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition under sub-paragraph (e) of paragraph (1) and paragraphs (4) and (5) of Article 41A of the Constitution.
Dr. Ahangamage Tudor Ariyaratne, Mr. Shibly Aziz and Dr. (Ms.) Radhika Coomaraswamy represented the Constitutional Council as non-MP members from September 2015 to September 2018.
