TPA parliamentarian Mano Ganesan has said that the upcoming Provincial Council polls will be conducted as per the previous proportional representation system.
This was decided at yesterday's party leaders meeting headed by Speaker Karu Jayasuriya.
He pointed out that the existing laws of the local government elections which include the newly introduced mixed electoral system should be abolished in Parliament since the polls will be held according to the old electoral system.
The laws pertaining to the local government polls were amended in 2017 to intoduce the mixed electoral system which was implemented during the local government elections in 2018.
Further, MP Ganesan said that Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe will be informed regarding this decision that was made at yesterday's party leader's meeting.
