A petition has been filed at the Appeal Court against Ranil Wickremesinghe seeking a ruling to prevent him from functioning as a Parlimentarian citing that he is a shareholder of a private company that has entered into agreements with government institutions.
The petition has been filed by Colombo Municipal Councillor Sharmila Gonawela.
Five individuals including UNP leader Wickremesinghe, UNP General Secretary Akila Viraj Kariyawasam and Parliament's Secretary General Dhammika Dissanayake have been named as reposndents in the case.
