The hearing of the petition filed against the rejection of nominations for the post of President and Vice President of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) have been postponed until February 20.
This was announced when the case was taken up before the Appeal Court today (Feb 15).
The additional Solicitor General representing the Attorney General had informed court that the respondents were not issued notice to be present during today's hearing.
Accordingly, it was announced that the petition would be heard at 9:30 am on February 20 since the polls would be held on the same day.
The petition has been filed by Mohan de Silva and Ravindra Wickramaratne and is being heard before a two-member judge bench comprising Appeal Court Chairman (Acting) Deepali Wijesundara and Justice Arjuna Obeysekera.
The petitioners had requested court to instruct the Minister of Sports Harin Fernando via a letter to accept their nominations for the said positions during the upcoming SLC polls. An interim order on the elections was also sought by the petitioners until a final verdict is issued in the case.
Minister Harin Fernando, the Secretary to the Sports Ministry and the members of SLC's election committee have been named as respondents in the case.
