Police persons affected due to the COVID situation have been provided relief on a directive of the Acting Inspector General of Police, Deputy Inspector General of Police Ajith Rohana said.
Accordingly, families of the policemen and officers infected with COVID, those moved into quarantined centres or those on self-quarantine will be entitled to a Rs 5,000 food pack. The items will be delivered to their homes.
Also, all female officers who are pregnant or with children below two years living or serving in the western province or living or serving in isolated areas can remain at home. Their salaries and allowances will be paid.
DIG Ajith Rohana said that police persons were helping in detecting COVID patients and helping health authorities to move them to hospitals and therefore were vulnerable to be infected.
