President Maithripala Sirisena at a meeting with officials of the Bond Commission today (Dec 21) has disussed the neccessary mechanisms to accelerate investigations of the central bank bond scam.
It is reported that talks at the meeting revolved around the necessary arrangements that have to be made in order to file a court case regarding the incident within an alloted time frame.
Officials at the meeting had also given assurance to commence a forensic audit into the bond scam.
In addition, it was decided that a progress meeting would also be convened once a month by the President.
Meanwhile, it was revealed that the amendment of the bill pertaining to the bond scam was hampered by the Parliament sectoral committee.
Further, it had also come to light that the Sri Lankan government had failed to elicit a response from the Singaporean government regarding its request to release former CBSL governor Arjuna Mahendran.
