President Maithripala Sirisena instructed the officials to implement the beautification and maintaining process in the Colombo city and other urban areas without any backdrop, President Secretariat said.
He stressed that it is compulsory to continue the concept of clean Colombo. The President gave the advices when he met the relevant officers who are responsible for the programme at the president's office yesterday (May 21).
The president added that if the relevant stakeholders live up-to their duties no issue would arise. He explained that the contribution of environmental division of the police and officials of the municipal council is essential to make the programme fruitful.
President Sirisena observed that keeping the urban areas clean and tidy helps to prevent some health menaces like dengue.
