President Maithripala Sirisena said today that a cabinet paper on constitutional changes including introducing a new constitution and abolishing the executive presidency would be submitted to the cabinet tomorrow. Addressing a ceremony of granting dual citizenship for over 2000 Lankans,at Temple Trees this morning, President Sirisena said the paper will also include proposals for new electoral reforms getting rid of the current system. Speaking at the funeral of late Rev Maduluwawe Sobitha Thero last week he said he will abolished the executive presidency as he promised during the presidential elections in January. Ven Sobitha Thero was a key activist who played a significant role in bringing the government in power.
