In a telephone call conversation with the Commonwealth Secretary General, Baroness Patricia Scotland, President Sirisena has said he acted in accordance to the constitution and that he would continue to act according to democractic practices.
According to the President's Media Division, the President explained to the Sec. General that he has very clearly asked the Speaker to follow the Parliamentary Standing Orders and conventions and take any vote on a No Confidence Motion using the electronic voting system or by name.
The Secretary General assured that the Commonwealth would continue to work in close cooperation with Sri Lanka.

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is due to vacate his official residence at Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo this morning, a Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) source said.
The Presidents’ Entitlements (Repeal) Bill was passed by a majority of 150 in parliament today. However the opposition MP’s were absent during the voting.
