President Maithripala Sirisena has said that the due procurement procedure must be followed when purchasing electricity.
He made this remark when Minster of Power and Energy Ravi Karunanayake put forward a cabinet proposal to purchase 100 megawatts of energy on an urgent basis.
It is reported that Minster Karunanayake had put forward a cabinet paper which facilitates the purchase of electricity after 10 days of calling for tenders.
The President while providing his observations on the paper had urged that the proper process is followed while making the purchase.
