Railway Technical Services Trade Union Committee is to engage in a 48-hour token strike commencing from 4pm today till 4pm Thursday, local media reported.
According to reports the strike is based on several demands including salary increments. Regardless of several round of discussions with officials unions were unable to arrive at a favourable solution.
The final rites of veteran broadcaster, writer, and lyricist Nirmala de Alwis will be held today at Peradeniya.
