Ravi fails to appear at Bond Commission again

Former Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake's Counsel informed the Presidential Commission probing the Treasury Bond issue that the Minister cannot appear before the Commission today as he is attending a Security Council meeting. 

The Counsel informed the Commission that the Minister will appear before the Commission on August 2. 

The Minister was originally scheduled to appear before the Commission yesterday, but his Counsel informed yesterday that the Minister could not appear. Accordingly a fresh summons was issued for him to appear before the Commission today.   

Earlier this week, it was revealed in witness testimony that the Minister and his family had leased out a luxury apartment at Monarch Residencies for eight months, with a monthly rental of Rs.1.45 million, which had been paid by  Arjun Aloysius of Perpetual Treasuries Ltd (PTL). 

Primary Dealer Perpetual Treasuries Ltd (PTL) is under probe by the Commission regarding the controversial Treasury Bond issue and Arjun Aloysius,is a key witness in the case.
