Security beefed up in Hambantota

News

Authorities are tightening security in the Hambantota area where the Government plans to hold a major ceremony tomorrow (7) to flag off a series of development projects in the Southern Province. 

Security was visbly being beefed up around the venue due to host tomorrow's ceremony under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe. 

There are concerns that various groups opposed to the controversial deal regarding the Hambantota Harbour may try to disrupt tomorrow's ceremony by holding protests.
