Solicitor General Dilrukshi Dias Wickramasinghe has withdrawn her resignation request which had been tendered to contest at the upcoming presidential polls, sources at the Attorney General (AG)'s Department said.
Ms. Wickramasinghe, in a letter, had requested the AG to permit the resignation before her service ended, but had withdrawn the request before it had been sent to the Public Service Commission (PSC).
The Solicitor General had withdrawn her letter when the administrative branch of the AG's Department had sought to confirm her decision, sources said.
Ms Wickramasinghe had served as the Chairman of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery and Corruption before resigning in 2016 - in an apparent response to President Maithripala Sirisena's remarks on independent commissions.
Attempts to contact the Solicitor General proved futile.
