Indexes’ at the Colombo bourse fell below the 5 per cent on Friday on panic trades after the government declared a week-end curfew across the country starting at 6 pm on Friday to curb the spread of the new coronavirus.
During the shortened day of trading which closed at 12 noon, the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) halted trading for 30 minutes at least twice after the S&P SL20 Index fell by 5 per cent.
At the close, according to provisional figures, the S&P SL20 index slumped by 11.90 per cent to 1,943.55 points while the All Share Price Index (ASPI) fell by 6.22 per cent to 4,571.63. (DEC)
