The Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) has launched a new website to facilitate the booking of seats for long distance bus rides starting from Colombo.
The website www.ntcbooking.lk will be available to the public from October 01 onwards.
The online booking will cost Rs.30 more than the ticket price.
The Ministry of Transport says that passengers will be able to book seats for 35 long distance bus services setting off from Colombo. Accordingly, passengers will be able to book seats on buses that travel to Kataragama, Jaffna, Badulla, Ampara, Deniyaya, Passara, Lunugala, Akuressa, Thirukovil, Batticaloa, Point Pedro, Madol Sima, Anuradhapura, Dayagama and Trincomalee.
The Ministry said the aim of the new project is to attract more passengers to public transport having improved the quality of service. It also expects to introduce a digital card in near future to failitate the payment proceedure.
