Veteran dramatist Somalatha Subasinghe passed away early this morning at the age of 79 in a private hospital in Colombo. As a versatile actress in the Sri Lanka's drama field she transformed the children’s and youth theatre significantly. Ms Subasinghe's will be remembered for her explosive and outstanding performance, playing the character of Sara in Mudu Puththu, Gunasena Galappaththi's adaptation of Garcia Lorca's Yerma. Her funeral will be held at the Public cemetery in Borella tomorrow evening.
