MP S B Dissanayake addressing a press briefing following the adjournment of Parliment, accused Speaker Karu Jayasuriya of acting against the Standing Orders of Parliament and even went as far as to say he was behaving as if intoxicated.
Speaking at a briefing held at the Parliamentary complex, Mr Dissanayake said the President had sent a reply yesterday. "He (Speaker) should have read that to the House first. But he did not do that ."
Further, Mr Dissanayake said the Speaker cannot disregard the President. He said," leader of the house Dinesh Gunawardena tried to read the President's letter but it was not allowed. After PM Rajapaksa spoke, the speaker acted in an inappropriate and tried to take a vote. This led to the unrest."
