In view of the Indian Premier Modi's visit to the island over a 1000 Police personnel will be deployed during the visit, local media reported.
A special traffic plan is in place ahead of the Indian delegation's visit to the island. Traffic movement on a number of roads in the city will be restricted from time to time
The plan is as follows
Traffic movement from BIA to Colombo via the Katunayake Expressway, Baseline Road, Horton Place, Ananda Coomaraswamy Mawatha, St. Micheal's Roundabout upto Galle Face will be restricted from 5.30 to 6.30 a.m. on March 13.
The Galle Road opposite the Galle Face Green will remain closed for traffic from 9.15 to 9.45 am on the same day. Vehicle movement from Galle Face to Maha Bodhi temple via Galle Road, D.R. Wijewardene Mawatha, Gamini Hall roundabout, Maradana junction will also be restricted from 11.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.
Traffic on the road leading to Parliament from the Galle Face via the Liberty Roundabout, Red Cross Junction, Pittala Handiya, Library Roundabout, Horton Place, Castle Street, Battaramulla, Polduwa upto Parliament Roundabout will be restricted from 1. p.m. to 1.30 p.m.
Vehicles plying on the Polduwa road will also be restricted from 2.45 p.m. to 3.00 p.m. while the road opposite the Galle Face Green would remain closed from 4.45 p.m. to 5.15 p.m. on the same day.
Traffic movement on Janadhipathi Mandiriya upto Galle Face Roundabout will also be restricted from 9.15 p.m. to 9.40 p.m .
Traffic on the road leading to the Slave Island police station via the NSA roundabout, Ceramic Roundabout, Regal Roundabout will also be restricted from 8.15 a.m. to 8.45 a.m. and from 3.15 p.m. to 3.40 p.m on March 14.
