Sri Lankan leaders condemn South Kashmir terror attack

The President, Prime Minister and Opposition Leader have expressed condolences over the South Kashmir terror attack and condemned the killing of 40 Central Reserve Police Force yesterday (Feb 14).

President Maithripala Sirisena took to his official Twitter handle saying "the world must condemn such brutal terrorist attacks and take effective action to prevent such incidents in future."

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe in his message of condolence via social media referred to the incident as "the worst ever terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir since 1989"

I strongly condemn the brutal terrorist attack in Kashmir's Pulwama district — the worst ever terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir since 1989. I express my condolences to @narendramodi and the families of police officers who lost their lives.

Meanwhile, Opposition leader Mahinda Rajapaksa  also expressed his condolences adding that the world should continue to combat terrorism.

I condemn the terror attack in Jammu & Kashmir that attacked a convoy, killing 44 soldiers. I extend my heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased. The world should continue to combat terrorism.
