A suspect has been arrested by the Special Task Force (STF) in Kalmunai with 1200 foreign cigarettes today (Apr 20).
STF personnel had arrested the suspect along with a SIM card and a mobile phone this morning.
Preliminary investigations had led to the discovery of a carton containing similar foreign cigarettes at the residence of the suspect.
It is believed that the cigarettes were smuggled into the country for business purposes.
The suspect has been handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau for further investigations.
