The cabinet paper on electoral reforms will be submitted to the cabinet next week, Cabinet spokesman Rajitha Senaratne said today. Addressing the weekly cabinet brief Dr. Senaratne said sub committee has been appointed to study the proposals which were put forwarded by the political parties. The sub-committee members are Sarath Amunugama, S.B. Dissanayake, Lakshman Kiriella, Kabir Hasheem, Patali Champika Ranawaka, Rauff Hakeem, Gayantha Karunatillake, P. Digambaram and Rishad Badurdeen. He said that the government hoped to sumbit the 20 Amenement to the parliament before disolution. The cabinet also decided not to extend the official terms of the Local Government Bodies. Out of 335 Local Government bodies 234 bodies are scheduled to end on May 15, and 65 bodies to end on July 31, in 21 bodies the term ends October 31.
