A special social development programme titled 'Swashakthi' will be launched in the near future in order to uplift the lives of families of victims of the Easter Sunday terror attack.
According to a proposal put forward by the Housing, Construction and Cultural Affairs Minister Sajith Premadasa during yesterday's cabinet meeting, a total of 344 families had been affected due to the attacks.
Of the said amount, 156 families had atleast one member who was killed in the recent explosions while atleast one person in 188 families had been injured in last month's tragedy.
Accordingly, the programme expects to uplift the lives of victims and families in areas including social, economic, cultural, and educational aspects.
The programme titled 'Swashakthi' will be carried out by the Urban Settlement Development Authority by obtaining the assistance of 'Sethsarana' which is the social arm of the Catholic Bishops Conference.
