Ten remanded over leopard killing

Ten persons who were arrested in connection with the killing of a leopard in Ambalakulam, Kilinochchi were today (29) remanded till July 3 by the Kilinochchi Magistrate's Court. 

Police said the suspects were arrested based on video evidence presented to court by officers from the Department of Wildlife Conservation (DWC). 

Seven suspects were previously arrested over the incident while three others surrendered to court today. 

In the incident, which occurred on June 21, a group of angry villagers set upon and beat the leopard to death after it attacked and injured 10 people at a village in Ambalakulam, including a wildlife officer.
