Nine persons have been confirmed dead due to a landslide at Bogahawatta Kanda in Bulathsinhala. Their bodies are currently at the Pimbura Hospital.
The landslide buried several houses in the area.
Operations are ongoing to locate others thought to be trapped under the rubble.
Meanwhile, the bodies of four persons have been recovered from another landslide which occured at Mawathawatta in Agalawatta. Search operations are also continuing to locate several others reported missing.
