Two suspects were arrested by the Excise Department yesterday (Feb 20) for operating an illegal distillery which produced upto 13 barrels of liquor on a daily basis in the Ja-ela area.
Issuing a press release, the Excise Department said that several equipment which were used in the distillery were also seized at the time of the arrest.
The suspects were arrested along with 1800 liquor bottles amounting upto 1350 litres in volume, following a three-day search operation carried out by Excise officials in the area.
The seizure was valued at Rs 2 million, the Excise Department said.
Meanwhile, an Excise official was hospitalised after he was injured while attempting to catch the suspects who had tried to flee the area in order to avoid arrest.
