In Pictures: Unions launch Indefinite postal strike
Postal services throughout the country have been affected from this morning after postal trade unions launched an indefinite strike from midnight yesterday.
According to the Joint Postal Trade Union Front, the strike was launched over several demands, including to voice opposition to Government plans to convert several historic buildings housing post offices in Colombo, Nuwara Eliya and Galle to luxury hotels. They are also protesting against Government inaction over restructuring of the staff recruitment process.
Main post offices, sub post offices and controling offices all over the country have been closed as a result of the strike.
