UNP Kurunegala Parliamentarian Ashok Abeysinghe has lodged a complaint with the Police as his family was threatened at his residence by a group of 30 individuals including Kurunegala Mayor, Thushara Sanjeewa.
MP Abeysignhe said the Kurunegala Mayor who is a member of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) had warned his family members to be careful since the government was in their hands.
The incident is reported to have taken place at 9:30 pm yesterday (Dec 03). It was reported that only the wife of the MP and the family members were at home at the time of the incident.
While a complaint has been lodged at the Kurunegala Police, the Police media division said no suspects have been arrested in this regard.

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is due to vacate his official residence at Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo this morning, a Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) source said.
The Presidents’ Entitlements (Repeal) Bill was passed by a majority of 150 in parliament today. However the opposition MP’s were absent during the voting.
