Update : Voting picks up after a slow start

Voting is picking up after a slow start in most of the districts with an average turnout between 30 to 35 per cent in the first three hours, election officials said.
According to figures compiled by 10.30 am. The highest per centage was reported from Anuradhapura with a turnout of 40 per cent followed by 35 per cent in the Gampaha, Ratnapura  and Kegalle districts.
The lowest report was from Galle with 15 per cent.
Some of the other district where the turnout up to 10.30 am were as follows; Batticaloa – 23 %, Trincomalee 26 %,  Kalutara 25 %, Badulla 25 %, Jaffna 20 %,  Vanni 30 %,  Monaragala 30 %, Digamadulla 25 per cent.
