UPFA General Secretary, MP Mahinda Amaraweera has submitted a letter to Speaker Karu Jayasuriya claiming that all UPFA members who were elected at the last general election are still members of the UPFA.
The letter was in response to statements made by Parliamentarians of the UNF and the TNA who claimed that the group of MPs who had obtained their membership at the SLPP were no longer members of the UPFA and according to the 19th amendment in such an instance could no longer be recognised as Parliamentarians and had lost their seats.
Meanwhile, Speaker Karu Jayasuriya will announce his decision today (Dec 21) regarding the appointment of a select committee to investigate into Mahinda Rajapaksa being appointed as the Opposition Leader.
