The US Navy conducted a cargo transfer operation out of the BIA under the Temporary Cargo Transport Initiative (TCTI) today (Jan 23).
The operation saw the moving of supplies inbound from Bahrain to the US aircraft carrier USS John C Stennis which is in international waters off Sri Lanka, via C-2A Grayhounds carrier borne transport aircrafts from the VCR-30 Squadron, "The Providers".
Two Grayhounds flew in to BIA, transferred the supplies onboard and returned to the carrier.
Todays transaction will bring an estimated Rs 25 million to the Sri Lankan economy, the US embassy said.
