The hearing of the appeal filed seeking a reduction in the jail term of leading drug dealer Samantha Kumara alias 'Vele Suda' was taken up before the Appeal Court today (Jan 31).
The petition was taken up before a two member judge bench comprising Justices Deepali Wijesundara and Achala Vengappuli and was later postponed until Feb 07 and Feb 15 next month.
'Vele Suda' was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment over the possession of just over seven grams of heroin in 2008 in Mount Lavinia by the High Court on October 14, 2015.
