UNP MP Wasantha Senanayake addressing a letter to President Maithripala Sirisena has officially tendered his resignation as the Minister of Tourism and Wildlife.
MP Senanayake said that he has decided to resign from his ministerial portfolio as he feels that he will not be able to function to the best of his ability until clarity is restored in the government.
The letter further noted that MP Senanayake wanted to meet the President after the previous cabinet meeting but had failed to do so since the latter's schedule did not permit it.
While thanking the President and the Prime Minister, he further said that he would be willing to join the President if a stable government is established.
MP Senanayake signed off by saying that he sees no better option than an immediate resignation.
