Chief Minister of the Northern Province C.V. Wigneswaran on Wednesday commended Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa for being “very forthright” in coming out with a resolution in the State Assembly on the issue of alleged war crimes and accepting a motion passed by the Provincial Council two weeks ago. Thanking Ms Jayalalithaa for her “extreme concern” towards Sri Lankan Tamils, Mr. Wigneswaran said her action had brought a “strong message” to the Union government of India to take all possible steps to ensure that “an international mechanism is formulated to hear the war crimes.” (The Hindu)
