Cabinet approval has been granted to set-up three coal power plants in the country.
Two 300 megawatt coal power plants will be set-up in Trincomalee while another 300 megawatts power plant will be constructed in Norochcholai.
The construction of the Norochcholai coal power plant is expected to be conclude within two years, according to a cabinet proposal put forward by Power and Energy Minister Ravi Karunanayake.
