For the first time in world cricket history, a batsman was given timed out.
Sri Lankan all-rounder Angelo Mathews was timed out as he came out to bat with a faulty helmet strap and wasn't ready to face the next ball of the match within two minutes.
Since the procedure of changing the helmet took more than 2 minutes, he was adjudged 'Timed Out' following an appeal from the Bangladesh team.
As per the rules of the ICC, the incoming batter should be ready to face the next ball of the match within 2 minutes of his dismissal. If this requirement is not followed, it is ruled as 'Timed Out'.
