Captain Chamari Atapaththu slammed her seventh ODI century as Sri Lanka thrashed New Zealand in their rain shorten first ODI at Galle international Cricket Stadium.
She shared 159 for the first wicket with Vishmi Gunaratne (50) as they chased down the target of 171 with two overs to spare. The hard hitting opener remained unbeaten on 108 off 83 balls and hit five sixes and 10 boundaries to go one up in the three-match series.
Batting first after heavy rains reduced the match to 29 overs a side, New Zealand scored 170 for the loss of five wickets.
