Sri Lanka's test captain Dimuth Karunaratne has held discussions with the selectors and informed he intends to resign from captaincy after their next test assignment versus the Ireland.
Karunaratne is afesh after two-tests defeat at the hands of New Zealand, after he and his brigade were supposed to win two-nill to book a berth at the World Test Championship Final.
The Ireland, in their first-ever tour to the island, arrive on 9 April for the opening test on 16 April at Galle.
