Former international spinner Sachithra Senanayake is set to become the first Sri Lankan cricketer indicted under the country’s Prevention of Offences Relating to Sports Act (Act No. 24 of 2019).
Senanayake faces formal charges in the Hambantota High Court after being accused of violating Section 5(c) of the Prevention of Offences Relating to Sports Act. The case will be called on July 9, 2025 for the service of the indictment to the accused cricketer at the High Court.
