Mustafizur’s 6-wicket haul helps Bangladesh prevent USA clean sweep

Sport

In the third and final T20I clash between Bangladesh and USA in Dallas, Mustafizur Rahman showcased a stellar performance, claiming a career-best 6 for 10, which marked the first time a Bangladeshi bowler achieved a six-wicket haul in T20Is. This remarkable feat significantly contributed to restricting USA to a modest total of 104 for 9.

Bangladesh's victory was further solidified by an unbeaten century partnership between Tanzid Hasan and Soumya Sarkar. The duo's partnership of 108 runs in just 11.5 overs propelled Bangladesh to a resounding ten-wicket win, bringing down the series margin to 2-1 in favor of USA.

Before these standout performances, Shakib Al Hasan reached a significant milestone, becoming the 17th cricketer to claim 700 international wickets. Notably, Shakib achieved this feat with over 14,000 runs under his belt, making him the first cricketer to reach this milestone with such an impressive batting record.

Despite USA resting four first-choice players, they started off aggressively, with Shayan Jahangir and Andries Gous providing a blazing start. However, Bangladesh's bowlers, led by Mustafizur, gradually tightened the screws, restricting USA's scoring opportunities.

In response, Bangladesh's batsmen, particularly Tanzid Hasan and Soumya Sarkar, dominated the USA bowlers, with Tanzid reaching his third T20I fifty and Soumya providing crucial support with an unbeaten 43 off 28 balls. Their partnership, which included impressive stroke play and timely boundaries, sealed Bangladesh's comprehensive victory.

Overall, Bangladesh's stellar bowling performance, highlighted by Mustafizur's six-wicket haul, and their dominant batting display, led by Tanzid and Soumya's century partnership, secured a memorable win in the final T20I encounter against USA.

Bangladesh will be facing India in a warm-up game on June 1.
