After the Galle batters dealt the damage with the batters, their bowlers combined to skittle Kandy out to 189 and thereby registering a 79-run win over the latter on Saturday in the National Super League One-Dayer.
Team Galle taking the first lease of the wicket, at the P Sara Stadium in Colombo, made the most with the national cap Dinesh Chandimal stroking an unfinished century (111) and Pasindu Sooriyabandara, though, unlucky to get out in the nervous-nineties (98).
That did anyway, set the tone for them to post 268, with Ramesh Mendis also chipping in with an unbeaten 42.
The 189-run stand for the third-wicket between Chandimal and Sooriyabandara, mainly laid the foundation, after losing early wickets.
Kandy chasing 269 for victory, were constantly bothered by their regular fall of wickets.
Though a 50-run partnership for the fifth-wicket, pause the wickets, by then half the side was back in the pavilion.
Opener Oshada Fernando scored a quick-fire 60, their team’s top-scorer for the match.
From the bowling department, Asanka Manoj took four wickets and Akila Dananjaya accounted for three victims.
