Middle-order batsman Pathum Nissanka, who scored a century in Test debut against the West Indies in the ongoing match at Antigua, became the first Sri Lankan to record a hundred in his first game played overseas.
Nissanka, who scored 103 runs in Sri Lanka's second innings faced 252 deliveries and hit six boundaries during his knock, before being caught at deep backward square by Kemar Roach off Rahkeem Cornwall.
Prior to this, Dilruwan Perera had scored 95 runs in Sharjah, which is the highest score recorded by a Sri Lankan on debut in a Test played overseas.
Nissanka (22) also is the fourth Test cricketer from Sri Lanka to score a century on debut.
The former Isipathana College player has appeared in 33 first class matches and averages 67.54 with a tally of 3445 runs, inclusive of 13 100s and 13 50s.
