Sports Diary for this week - April 9-15

With the Sinhala and Tamil New Year around the corner, sports activities around Sri Lanka has been restricted or limited besides a few events.

Among those events, the ITF Asia U-14 Development Championship finals which began last Sunday (5) at the SLTA courts, will continue up until April 19 with the participation of players from 14 countries.

Two Limited Overs encounters of the Big Match Season for 2026 will take place on Friday (10) in Matara and on Saturday (11) at the SSC, while the Limited Overs series between Sri Lanka ‘A’ and New Zealand ‘A’ continues with the third and final unofficial ODI at Sooriyawewa.

The SLC National Super League 4-day cricket competition, which began on Monday (6) will resume on April 19 after the holiday break.

The annual RTC Governor’s Cup horseracing event, a much looked forward to extravagant event held during the April Holiday Season, will be held at the Racecourse in Nuwara Eliya on Wednesday (15).
