Cricket: Hosts claim BRC Sixes beating neighours Colts

Hosts Burgher Recreation Club (BRC) beat neighbours Colts CC by 11 runs to win the BRC Cricket 6s that was revived after two decades at the BRC ground on Sunday (13).

In the final man-of-the-match Andy Solomans smashed an unbeaten 28 off 14 balls while Rumesh Buddika cracked 22 runs to help BRC overcome Colts.

Batting first BRC posted 66 runs and restricted Colts to 55-4 in the final as Dilruwan Perera played a lone battle by scoring 25 runs. 

Moors SC beat SSC to finish the third place playoff. 

In the semi-final BRC beat SSC by 26 runs while Colts defeated Moors SC by 4 runs.

A total of 16 teams -- 14 Premier Division clubs and the top two clubs from the Emerging segment -- played in the two-day competition which was initiated in 1969 but seized in 1996. 

The winners BRC won the title and a cash award of Rs. One Million while runners-up Colts received a cash prize of Rs 250,000.
