Cricket: Sebastianites win Sara Trophy 2015

Sebastianites Cricket Club beat Negombo Cricket Club by 52 runs to win the Sri Lanka Cricket Sara Trophy Championship at Moors ground in Brabrooke Place on Sunday (2).   Sebastianites, led by Pubudu Ranaweera, were unbeaten throughout the tournament.   Batting first, Sebastianites were skittled out for 179 runs with Harsha de Silva top scoring 70.   Kalhan Sineth claimed 4 for 42 for Negombo CC, who were bowled out for 135.   Malshan Gunasinghe top scored with 48 runs.   Mohomed Fesal, who had a wonderful game, claimed 6 scalps conceding 27 runs.   With Harsha de Silva’s elegant knock of 96 and a timely 52 from Hashan Gunatilleke, Sebastianites put up score 222 runs in their second innings, leaving Negombo CC a target of 258 for victory.   Malshan Gunasinghe took 5 for 57.   Marlon Madushanka took 6 for 100 to spearhead Sebastianites to an outright victory after Negombo CC were bowled out for 215 runs.   Akeel Inham top scored with 74 runs. Sebastianites CC 179 all out (Mohomed Fesal 30, Harsha de Silva 70, Kalhan Sineth 4/42, Channa Fernando 2/43, Pasindu de Silva 2/49) and 222 all out (Harsha de Silva 96, Hashan Gunatilleke 52, Pubudu Ranaweera 28, Malshan Gunasinghe 5/57, Channa Fernando 2/43, Pasindu de Silva 2/49)   Negombo CC 135 all out (Sriyan Dilsri 40, Malshan Gunasinghe 48, Mohomed Fesal 6/27) and 215 all out (Akeel Inham 74, Malshan Gunasinghe 23, Lahiru Wickramasinghe 41, Marlon Madushanka 6/100, Thenuka Dabare 2/51)
