Sri Lanka Cricket’s (SLC) Coach Education Unit commenced a Level II Coaching Course on Tuesday (16) for nearly 20 participants, who represents various levels of Sri Lankan cricket.
The six-day course, which is conducted at the High Performance Center of the SLC at the R. Premadasa Stadium is taken part by school coaches, club coaches and also former and present national cricketers such as Rangana Herath, Ajantha Mendis, Nuwan Kulasekara, and Dhammika Prasad.
Sri Lanka women’s team player Prasadini Weerakkody is also a participant at this coaching course.
“This is a special course, and the main objective of this is to enhance the coaching knowledge of the modern game of all attendees’; who will then be able to help Sri Lanka cricket by identifying talent and producing future national players;” said Asanka Gurusinha, Chief Cricket Operations Officer of SLC, who is heading the High Performance Centre.
The course is conducted by prominent coaches attached to the SLC High Performance Centre.
Among them are Avishka Gunawardene, Piyal Wijethunga, Heshan de Mel; Upul Chandana; Ravindra Pushpakumara, Chamila Gamage, Lanka de Silva, Sumithra Waranakulasuriya, and Tharaka Samaratunga.
In addition trainers such as Dharashana Weerasinghe and Dilshan Fonseka and physiotherapist Ranjith Nanayakkara will also take part in conducting the workshop.
