The spirit of fun, fitness and friendship was evidently visible at the Colombo Cycle Fun Ride 2015 organised by the Pedal Pushers at the Racecourse ground last weekend.
Continuing the spirit of the sport, the event attracted a large number of people amidst the heavy rain and the enthusiasm showed by all kids was definitely the highlight of the event.
Over 800 riders were featured at the 4th Pedal Pushers Colombo Cycle Fun Ride 2015, a city ride and a carnival at the culmination of the ride at the Racecourse in Colombo.
The main idea of the event was to propagate the love for this sport mixed with entertainment amongst a wide section of enthusiasts.
The ethos of the Pedal Pushers cycling group that was formed on March 10, 2010 by two enthusiasts Lalanthi Rajapakse and Dharshini Ariyaratne.
Since then they have been pedaling their way to promote a change in the mindset of cycling, perceiving it not only as a sport but a healthy lifestyle.
What began as a male dominated hobby and a sporting activity in Sri Lanka has evolved into a dynamic and well participated family outdoor activity today.
The main sponsor of the event was Dimo-Jeep.
