Colombo Veterans Football Club (CVFC) won the Goodwill Football Festival Cup at the International Masters Football Tournament held in Dubai.
This is the 4th time CVFC have won an International Masters Football tournament.
They were champions at the inaugural tournament held in Singapore in 2006, and were joint champions with Singapore in 2008.
They also won the trophy in 2011.
Apart from this, they were runner-up in 2007, 2012, 2013 and 2015.
The 8-Nation Goodwill Football Festival tournament was conducted on league basis and CVFC had the best results earning 16 points to win the championship.
CVFC beat Malaysia 6-2, beat Singapore 4-0, beat India 2-0, beat South Africa 2-0 and beat Mauritius 3-0.
They drew 0-0 with Italy and unfortunately, lost 0-1 to UAE.
Ardent Football lover and promoter Ramanathan Puvanenthiran sponsored the team on this tour.
He is the founder President of the CVFC and President of the City Football League.
He is also a former Vice President of Football Federation of Sri Lanka.
